Gypsy Girl

Let me introduce myself.

My name is April Flowers.

My list of identifiers is five miles long: mother, teacher, journalist, blogger, board gamer, geek. Probably my favorite, though, is gypsy.

I was born and raised in Southeast Texas, just a an hour or so west of the Louisiana border. I lived in the same small town, in the same house for the first 18 years of my life (and on and off since then). But I never could sit still.

If I had a bad day, I was off to the beach. If I needed quiet, I hiked in the woods. My friends and I canoed most summers, and I took trips to visit family, go to band camps, and participate in the National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington DC.

I think that’s where everything went wrong :). Those trips taught me to hear the sound of the wind, to feel the changes coming and to long… YEARN… to move.

I haven’t lived in the same place for longer than four years since then.

Beaumont, Houston, Dallas, Norman Oklahoma, Urbanna Virginia and Chadron Nebraska are places I have called home (some of them more than once).

So far, all of my travel has been in the United States, but I’m working on plans to fix that this year. I would like to invite you to come along with me on my trips, mental and physical. Hopefully, I will entertain you at the least, perhaps inspire you.
